Jose Munoz was asking about O scale models on the Magnorail System - I replied on my YouTube Channel klatchco56 in the following way.
Magnorail is scale agnostic - in other words the vehicles on top can be from z scale to HO. As to O scale, I would imagine that the vehicles would have to be reasonably light and freewheeling and would need a stronger magnet on the slider. Regrettably the bicycles are only available in HO scale. I will try an O scale vehicle to test out the theory - watch my blog on my website at www.magnorailoz.com.au or subscribe to this channel
Basically boats and canoes etc are easier as they actually contact the surface directly. A velour velvet on the crafts bottom will reduce friction. Once again a larger neodymium rare earth magnet should provide the “sticking” power but it is all about physics - the heavier the craft the more power and grip needed to move it. I would not recommend putting a fleet of O scale boats on the Magnorail System as it is powered by 2 x O rings gripping the track as the motor turns and too much tension by stressing the pulling power would make the system slip. However 3 or 4 canoes would probably work. I use Preisser models and adapt them with either MagnorailOz sliders or magnets in the topside of the hull of craft.
The canoes seen on the video https://youtu.be/IzE7jhDvOeU are in actual fact N scale models
Magnorail in the Netherlands have sold their business to Maketis in France. It was offered to their top three resellers as a going concern. We at MagnorailOz did our due diligence but had to decline in the end purely because of the logistics of having products manufactured in Europe then sent to Australia for assembly and packaging then sending back to Europe and the world to resellers - a nightmare for our one-man operation.
Maketis have assured us that things will be back to normal by about February depending on manufacturing operations turn around.
In the meantime MagnorailOz bought a lot of the boxed stock but that is gong fast, so check the website for current stock levels.
Hopefully by the end of February we will be back in to a full stock position, however if we are out and you want to pre-order, just drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will advise you once the new stock is in.
Onwards and upwards and the MAGIC will continue despite this hiccup.
Thanks - Clyde
My back order just arrived express post from Holland - cost heaps but your support is worth it. Another order hopefully on its way soon so I should be fully stocked for the Grampian Model Railroaders Stawell Model Train Exhibition July 7 & 8. - see the attached flyer which you can download if you have a notice board in Victoria that you can pin it up. - see you then
A recent promotion in both the model railway magazines in Australia has seen unprecedented sales occur. We're reordering at present so please be patient otherwise you can email us at Magnorailoz@Gmail.com and we will put you on our wait-list. As mentioned below it still works out cheaper then buying through Europe, usually about two weeks before we can get the restocking completed.
We also had a great weekend at the Ballarat model train show Queen's Birthday weekend which help deplete our stocks.
Thanks for your patronage
With the Australian dollar around the mid 70 mark it is actually cheaper to buy Magna rail products in a stria than from Europe so remember to check it out rather than buying through other sites your finding is cheaper and the postage is cheaper in Australia as well
The new group leisure kit and the group work kids have finally arrived in Australia after being launched in Germany at the huge Dortmund toy fair in May. The leisure kit includes three units a tandem cycle with male and female rider the sports or hybrid bike with a Childs trailer on the back and the final one is an ice cream vendor and that kit comes with the appropriate stickers for you.
All kits need assembling and painting. The ice cream vendor comes with colourful stickers to make your ice cream trolley stand out.
One of my customers recently bought a new ready-to-run bike for his Magnorail layout only to find that that it would not stay on the track! It turns out that Magnorail in Holland have switched their production from steel frames to brass or bronze which means they are no longer attracted to the magnets in the chain.
The solution for them was to place micro magnets on the wheels which are then attracted to the chain magnets.
The problem has arisen that the chain magnets now need to be placed with the two magnets exposing the North polarity at the top as the wheel magnets are pre-set to South polarity to be attracted to the chain.
If you have an existing chain with the old bikes, it made no difference as to how you placed the magnets as the steel wheels were attracted either way.
So, if you have new bikes which are repelling from the chain magnets you have 2 options.
1. flip the magnets in the chain to match the wheel magnets
2. if your system is sealed and you cannot access the chain then using acetone (nail polish) soak the wheels and the super glue (cyanoacrylate) holding them will release.
Once released, place the bike on the chain above the chain magnets, put a drop of super glue on each wheel flat and using plastic tweezers drop the magnet on the glue and it should automatically grip at the right polarity - remove it from the track to avoid any of it sticking and let the glue dry.
If you are having difficulty with your older bikes jumping of the track when the hit a join or or bump on your track, you should consider purchasing a magnet set from our shop.
Each set has 4 of each magnet, with the micro magnets in the set, enabling you to upgrade two of your older bikes to better gripping ones. The clear wheel is now being pulled firmer onto the track surface which should stop any free-wheeling by the cyclists and helping them pedal at all times!
Clyde has been involved for many years with the Magnorail system having initially built his own layout "Echo Lakes" featuring two concepts using the Magnorail System. In 2019 he rebirthed his layout as Crater Lake featuring four Magnorail circuits plus an Ho3 train line around the perimeter which is now the Magnorail flagship for exhibitions.
